Improve your healing by finding Awaken Wine Worms in Black Myth Wukong
Looking for Awaken Wine Worms in Black Myth Wukong? They may not sound too delicious, but using Awaken Wine Worms to upgrade your drinks is a good idea, as these rare materials will improve the drink's healing effect. With 12 Awaken Wine Worms in total, you can upgrade more than one drink if you'd like, such as the common Coconut Wine or the rare Lambbrew. Just visit the Shen Monkey and spend those hard-earned worms!
Unfortunately, most Awaken Wine Worms are hidden inside large pots scattered across the world of Black Myth Wukong, which makes them very difficult to find. Luckily, there's one thing that sets them apart from the hundreds of 'normal' pots in the game; the ones containing an Awaken Wine Worm give off a golden glow.
To help you find those golden pots and upgrade your drinks, here's every Awaken Wine Worm location in Black Myth Wukong.

Awaken Wine Worms sold by Shen Monkey
You can purchase a total of three Awaken Wine Worms from the Shen Monkey. Although this merchant becomes available in Chapter 1, he'll not have any Awaken Wine Worms in his inventory yet. To unlock each worm, here's what you must do:
- Awaken Wine Worm 1: complete Chapter 2
- Awaken Wine Worm 2: complete Chapter 3
- Awaken Wine Worm 3: complete Chapter 4
In other words, you should visit the Shen Monkey as soon as you've entered Chapter 3 to purchase your first Awaken Wine Worm from him. To find the Shen Monkey, fast-travel to Marsh of White Mist in the Black Wind Mountain's Bamboo Grove (Chapter 1) and head down the wooden platform path, then turn right at the first opportunity. The Shen Monkey is inside the cave. Speak with him, then choose 'store' followed by 'buy' to see the Awaken Wine Worms you've unlocked. The first will cost 1500 Will, the second 2500 Will, and the third 4500 Will.
Beware that once you've completed Chen Loong's questline, Shen Monkey will move to the Zodiac Village - the hidden region unlocked during this quest.
Chapter 1 Awaken Wine Worm locations
Besides the ones sold by Shen Monkey, there's one Awaken Wine Worm hidden in the wilds of the Black Wind Mountain. Go to the Cave Interior Shrine in Black Wind Cave, then go through the narrow door opening and immediately turn left. There's a bright green pot containing an Awaken Wine Worm just ahead.
If this is your first visit, beware that you'll enter the Black Wind King's boss arena once you get through the narrow doors, so it's best to concentrate on the fight before grabbing the worm.
Chapter 2 Awaken Wine Worm locations
There's only one Awaken Wine Worm in Chapter 2. Starting from the Valley of Despair Shrine in Sandgate Village, enter the cave next to the Shrine. Continue straight ahead; once you've passed two flames followed by a small wooden table, drop down to the lower level and immediately turn right. At the end of this path, smash the vase to collect the Awaken Wine Worm.
Chapter 3 Awaken Wine Worm locations
Besides the one you can purchase from the Shen Monkey, you'll be able to obtain two more Awaken Wine Worms in Chapter 3. The first is found near the end of the Pagoda Realm section, and the other may be collected at the end of the Valley of Ecstasy part.
Outside the Wheel, Pagoda Realm
Starting from the Outside the Wheel Shrine in the Pagoda Realm, walk back towards the Pagoda building but turn right before entering it. Continue along the cliff's edge until you see a wooden treasure chest in front of you. This may look like a dead end, but carefully approach the edge of the cliff and look down; see the lower ledge? Drop down and walk back (with the chasm on your right) until you see the glowing pot containing the Awaken Wine Worm on your left side. It's behind a group of petrified enemies.
Longevity Road, Valley of Ecstasy
Fast-travel to the Longevity Road Shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy or follow the path through the snowy forest until you unlock it. Walk down the slope behind the Shrine, away from the path, and follow the lower road that leads to a nearby staircase. Continue ahead until you spot the glowing Awaken Wine Worm pot on your right.
Chapter 4 Awaken Wine Worm locations
There are three Awaken Wine Worms hidden in The Webbed Hollow region. Beware that the last one is located in the Purple Cloud Mountain secret area. To get there, you must defeat the Venom Daoist boss twice: when he's stuck in the "Odd Cocoon" near the Pool of Shattered Jade Shrine, and in the arena accessible from the top of the hill behind the Court of Illumination Shrine.
Estate of the Zhu, Village of Lanxi
From the Estate of the Zhu Shrine (first Shrine in Chapter 4), enter the walled area on the left. This is the boss arena where you'll fight the Second Sister. With your back to the entrance, look inside the small building on your right to find the Awaken Wine Worm.
Temple Entrance, Temple of Yellow Flowers
Pass through the gate in the yellow wall next to the Temple Entrance Shrine and walk up the stairs. Inside the temple complex, enter the building on the right and take the exit behind the tiger enemy on the left (walk through the courtyard full of yellow-robed monks). The Awaken Wine Worm is in a pot next to an NPC, can't miss it.
While you're here, you might want to visit the meditation spot in the same temple complex.
Petalfall Hamlet, Purple Cloud Mountain
Cross the arched bridge behind the Petalfall Hamlet Shrine and walk up the stairs. Continue through the stone gate ahead, passing the NPC called Daoist Mi on your left, and immediately turn left; there's a very narrow staircase that leads directly to the Awaken Wine Worm.
Chapter 5 Awaken Wine Worm locations
Just two more Awaken Wine Worm locations left! Note that the final one is in the Bishui Cave secret area, so you must complete the Pale-Axe Stalwart's questline to get it. In short, you should meet the bull NPC in the village with the fighting enemies behind the Ashen Pass I Shrine. Defeat the Brown-Iron and Gray-Bronze Carts, return to the village to speak with Pale-Axe, defeat the Crimson-Silver Cart, walk back from the Fallen Furnace Crater to uncover a hidden path on the left, and defeat the Rusty-Gold Cart. This will open the doors to Bishui Cave.
Rakshasa Palace, Furnace Valley
Starting from the Rakshasa Palace Shrine, follow the path across the stone bridges. When the path splits in two, walk through the lava to enter the building left of the massive red guardian. The Awaken Wine Worm is inside.
Corridor of Fire and Ice, Bishui Cave
Go to the Rakshasa Palace Shrine, which is quite far down the Bishui Cave (on the main path behind the Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top boss). Starting from that Shrine, go through the icy doorway. About halfway up the stairs, turn left to find the glowing vase with the Awaken Wine Worm.
